I understand your point but even Siemens won't keep a product line going with only marginal returns and no future. As you said, no upgrades of any worth and Platforms as the Immulite are basically dead in the water. Centaur isn't far behind anymore. Here at Tarrytown, backorder issues have grown exponentially.
Siemens can only download Diagnostics as a Package deal with Healthcare. A company making the purchase would then consolidate what it wants and shutdown (or sell off cheaply) what it doesn't. As example would be how Siemens handled LA. Within a few years after purchase they shutdown and sent packing 90% of its employee's.

JK still might spin it off as a separate Siemen's entity and let it self destruct on its own.
