Hi,
You are being made fun of...Every company has a different job structure. Ask HR what the title structure is at those companies. Not all Scientst/Sr. Scientist positions are equivalent (ie there can be other levels before director level - such as staff scientist/Sr. staff scientist). In general, you usually need industry experience to get the Sr. Scientist title and the responsibilities that comes with it. You need to have proven yourself in an industry setting. Hiring managers are very reluctant to give those positions to people straight out of academics unless you are a real go-getter and have a great track record (lots of publications, managed your own lab, well-respected, etc.). I understand you don't want to short-change yourself, so get info on the job structure. Don't try to get a job you are not ready for because working in industry is a very different beast than working in academics...
